Tall Clubs International...
In the beginning, it began with a dream. A vision of a place for tall people - it was the brainstorm idea of a taller than average Southern California woman by the name of Kae Sumner Einfeldt .

She was an artist for Walt Disney Studios, drawing the seven dwarfs. In 1938, she approached a columnist for the LA Times, with an idea for an article about the problems associated with being tall.  In the article Kae invited other talls to contact her to discuss the problems that faced them.

It was at the first national convention of tall clubs, in July 1947, the organization became known as the American Affiliation of Tall Clubs (AATC). In 1966 the AATC voted to change it's name to Tall Clubs International (TCI), that is the name of the organization still today.

Over the decades since, Tall Clubs International has changed and grown, adding new chapters across the United States and Canada. You can go to www.tall.org to view a complete listing and map of chapters.

As part of their activities, the member chapters of Tall Clubs International gather together annual for a national convention. In 2010, TCI's national convention will be held in New Orleans, LA - June 24 - June 30, 2010. At that convention, they will also crown Miss Tall International, the official spokesperson for the organization. Sarasota member, Nancy Jacoby, was crowned Miss Tall International in 2004 in Niagara Falls.

Tall Clubs International & the TCI Foundation, Inc. jointly sponsor an annual scholarship program. More information about this program may be found on the Tall Clubs International website. At the current time, the Sarasota Tall Sunsations do not participate in the scholarship program. The club hopes to begin nominating candidates for the national program in 2011.

The Sarasota Tall Sunsations have been a proud member chapter of Tall Clubs International since 1996, located in the heart of Florida's suncoast.
